The methods of monitoring production on site are unable to meet the expectations for efficiency, accuracy and cost as product lifecycles are shortened continuously. Setting up an RFID and ZigBee based manufacturing monitoring system is a good approach to improve monitoring efficiency so as to improve management efficiency in enterprises. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a new generation of Auto Identification and Data collection technology which helps to automate business processes and allows identification of large number of tagged objects like books.
RFID based system would allow fast transaction flow for the library and will prove immediate and long term benefits to library in traceability and security. The system is based on RFID readers, supported with RFID strips on each books and transaction sections, and a database to count used books. As society evolves there is a need for information and knowledge which throughout the past years have been placed in books. INTRODUCTION Suppose the case is about the arranging of used books in the library.
The great increase on RFID based implementations has showed that the implementation of a wireless solution provides a great development on the speed of processing, mobility to the user and also gives comfort to the people. For example a simple inventory operation for huge data storage can be done in a few seconds with using any controller based on RFID. In recent years, high expectations for the integration or RFID in the library scenario have emerged.
However, in spite of recent research interest in the library environment, RFID adoption is still its beginning and a large number of experience need to be collected. Libraries tend to have a general problem which is arranging of used books. To help lessen this problem, arrange books in a proper place. Due to a rapid growth of population in the university, more students are borrowing books from the library but only few librarians. The more students who borrowed books, the more used books will be used. The library staff is trying to manage time to do the entire job inside the library because they o manually transactions. To establish the entire test in finding an alternative solution and a best way in a manual transaction in the library is by using a book truck to identify used books and to locate it in the proper shelf. The purpose of this paper is to design a system that will count used books and locate the books in the designated shelf. This study will show the reader how it will minimize the workload of the library staff and how the system will give its best output display about the arranging and counting of used books.
Using the Arduino database, the system will develop its expectations to enhance its database. Borrowing and returning of books can be fully automating with the help of check-in/out systems. This system involves installation of special software. RFID device serves the same purpose as a bar code or a magnetic strip on the back of a credit card or ATM card; it provides a unique identifier for that object. And, just as a bar code or magnetic strip must be scanned to get the information, the RFID device must be scanned to retrieve the identifying information.
As modern technologies continue to transform and impact our society, Radio Frequency Identification has emerged as one of the top areas of study to do just that. Using its wireless data capturing technique and incredible capabilities such as automatic identification, tracking, handling large amounts of data, and flexibility in operation, RFID aims to revamp the new millennium. Zigbee is the only standards-based wireless technology designed to address the unique needs of low-cost, low-power wireless sensor and control networks in just about any market.
ZigBee also connects the widest variety of devices into easy-to-use networks, giving you unprecedented control of the devices you use every day at home, work or even play. It is low cost, low power consumption, highly reliable, and secured This project consists of an RFID reader for the shelf and an RFID strips for the used books. The system used an Arduino database to access if the used book is in or out. If the book is in, the title and the code are still in the database. If the book is out, the title and the code will not be seen in he database. And if the book was being stolen, there is a light and an alarm in the system that will detect if the book was stolen or borrowed. Statement of the Problem The main thrust of the thrust of the study is to design a system for libraries to reduce the inaccuracy in the inventory of used books for a day. Library staffs are monitoring the number of books and specifically what books are used every day. But there are instances that people do not use the book truck which is allotted for used books to be placed on.
Libraries need to have indicators for easier monitoring of the book’s designating shelf when putting the used books back to its correct location. The system will be designed for low-power consumption to lessen the increasing bill of electricity for transmission of gathered information to the inventory database. Security system in libraries is sometimes uncontrolled. There are instance that books are replaced with the same book but not the original and registered to the database. And some brought the books out of the library without the personnel’s permission.
The effects of these problems can be lessening by automated counting and shelving order monitoring in the libraries. This study will present a solution in order to cope up with the security and inaccuracy problem in the database in libraries. The study will focus on the questions that will be involved in creating the RFID-based system, such questions are: 1. By how much does the propose system is accurate or differ as to compared to the manual/conventional way of monitoring the books inside the library? 2. How does the propose system be designed to achieve significant difference based on the results gathered from the automated database compared to the conventional process using in the library? Objectives of the Study The main objective of this project is to design a system that will be use to monitor used books in the library. The specific objectives of this project are the following:
1. To design a system that will monitor used books and their location on the designated shelf using the RFID reader. 2. To compare the results of the used books of data gathered manually and from the system. 3. To be able to count the number of used books in the shelf using the system. This proposal discusses about the importance of creating a library system for more reliable database. The study aims to give more accurate readings of the number of books that are being used.
The system also enables for easy identification for the location of the books, it is for a correct shelving order, making circulation staff free for other library tasks. There is no need for a book truck to place the used books and it is not necessary for the staff, themselves to return these books. The system also allows the library staffs to have a summarized inventory of the used books for a day. The system which composes of a wireless technology using Zigbee enable for an environment since it is lesser power requirement and a low-cost control network.
The project also gives advantage to the students to bring their own books inside the library. Some prohibits entering the area carrying unregistered book in the library. Using the system, it disables other people to switch books and attempts of bringing out the library books without the staff permission. Lastly, the project aims to help future researchers that will be studying the same proposal. They can use the same principles and methods that the study shos when they are concentrating on the same topic.
