It is the year 2050, Earth is so polluted, vision is obscured by smog, lakes and streams are poisoned. Oh! What a terrible sight. This may become a reality, if we keep using non-renewable energy resources. Hello there! A very good morning and I am Pranav Athreya and you have guessed it right, I am speaking for the topic Renewable energy is the need of the hour. At present, the main energy sources used are non-renewable fossil fuels like coal, petroleum, and natural gas. There are many disadvantages in using these non-renewable energy sources.
Irreversible damage to the environment by pollution and global warming, damage to the eco systems and threat to Life itself. So my dear friends, What is the solution? Renewable Energy, YES it is the Need of the hour. So, what is renewable energy? It is the energy that comes from natural sources such as sunlight, geothermal heat, wind, water, and biofuels powered by feed stocks. Renewable energy is sustainable. These sources are considered “renewable” because they are naturally replenished in the normal flow of the world.
Renewable resources not only help our planet to stay clean, but also help our economy. There are several sources of renewable energy. Solar power panels can be used to generate electricity. Wind Power is used to run wind turbines and generate electricity. Ocean Wave Energy can be used to run wave power generators and wave power farms can be planned. Biofuels are fuels that are made from materials such as corn, sugar cane, animal fat, sunflower seeds, wild grasses, and soybeans.
The fuel is entirely renewable as replacement crops can be grown. Bio waste-Cow dung is used in rural India even today. This ancient renewable energy source is very useful in generating Gobar Gas. Which is similar to LPG. However, my learned opponents may say supply of renewable energy is variable and intermittent. Reliability increases quickly as a stronger foundation is laid. When the sun is covered by clouds in stormy conditions then theoretically the wind generators would be able to collect more energy.
Conversely, when it is a calm sunny day, the solar power panels will be generating the majority of the energy. The key behind renewable energy sources is diversification, which will ultimately create a more reliable grid than the one driven by crude oil that we have now. Renewable Energy is the need of the hour. Yes, it has benefits for Environment and People. They have a much lower environmental impact than conventional energy technologies. Sources such as fossil fuels contribute heavily to issues like smog, acid rain, and global warming.
It helps to fuel our homes independently in many cases. Using renewable fuels makes us less dependent. There are also many job opportunities for professionals who can design user friendly devices of using renewable energy. It will not only save money in utilities but also save on taxes too. What can we do to address the need of the hour? Looks like a big question. Let us start at our own Home. How? Make Your Home Energy Efficient. Start by conserving energy, there by conserving resources. For example, switch off the lights and fans when not in use.
Encourage usage of Solar panels, wind turbines, oceanic turbines, Bio fuels and Bio waste in common man’s daily life to hit the target of using renewable energy sources. My dear friends, I conclude by saying that Renewable Energy is the need of the Hour. There is no crisis in the source of Renewable Energy but the ignorance of using it. Use renewable energy and save the earth. Remember that Planet earth is not inherited by our forefathers but is a loan we have taken from our great-grand-children.
